FAQS

How much does private spinal treatment cost?

The overall cost of private spinal treatment varies depending on your condition, the investigations required, and the type of procedure or surgery recommended. Fees typically include the costs of the hospital, surgeon, and anaesthetist.
To ensure you are correctly advised, we recommend the following:

Consult your GP. A referral may be required by your health insurer.

Contact your health insurance provider to confirm cover and obtain authorisation for a consultation.

Complete the contact form on this website to arrange an appointment with Professor Nasir Quraishi.

During your consultation, Professor Quraishi will assess your condition, explain your diagnosis, and discuss the most appropriate treatment options.

Do I need a referral to see Mr Quraishi?

A referral is not always required to book an appointment. However, the General Medical Council (GMC) recommends that patients seek referral where possible, as it helps provide a full clinical background. Some health insurance companies may also insist on a referral before approving a claim.

How long will I be in hospital and off work?

The length of your hospital stay depends on the type of spinal condition being treated and the complexity of the procedure. Many patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery are discharged the same day or within 24 hours. More complex procedures may require a stay of two to five days.

Recovery time and return to work will vary depending on the surgery and the patient’s overall health. Mr Quraishi will discuss expected recovery times and rehabilitation plans during your consultation.

How successful is spinal surgery?

Success rates for spinal surgery are high, particularly when performed for well-defined conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or scoliosis. Mr Quraishi will explain the potential outcomes, risks, and benefits specific to your case before any procedure.

Can I receive treatment through the NHS?

Most spinal treatments are available on the NHS. However, waiting times for outpatient appointments and non-urgent surgery can be considerably longer. Private treatment offers faster access to consultations, diagnostic imaging, and surgical procedures.
